Pamjet janë vërtetë apokaliptike dhe shkatërrimi i disa rajoneve të Gjermanisë ka lënë pa fjalë edhe vet kancelaren Merkel, që ka shkuar nga afër me stafin e saj të vizitojë zonat e prekura.

Numri i viktimave të përmbytjeve shkatërruese që goditën Evropën Perëndimore ditët e fundit vazhdon të rritet.

“Falë Zotit vendi ynë mund të përballet me atë që ka ndodhur financiarisht dhe ne do ta bëjmë shumë ngushtë”,- tha ajo, duke folur në Adenau me ministrin president të Rhineland-Palatinate, një nga rajonet gjermane më të prekura nga përmbytjet.

“Ne filluam të organizohemi herët, nuk do të gjejmë pushim derisa t’i gjejmë të gjithë. Por e dimë që do të duhet të punojmë me muaj për të rindërtuar gjithçka, do të duhet shumë kohë. Ishte një angazhim i fortë që do të na shoqërojë për një kohë e gjatë. ‘Homelandshtë’ atdheu im, por vështirë se mund ta njoh këto ditë”.

Kancelarja Merkel ka shkelur nga afër zonat e shkatërruara të Rhineland-Palatinate si dhe vizitoi edhe Schuld-in, një nga vendet më të prekura nga përmbytja, e cila vrau 110 njerëz vetëm aty.

Kancelarja ishte në zonën e përmbytur të Eifel, së bashku me guvernatorin e Rheinland-Pfalz, Malu Dreyer. Edhe pse uji po tërhiqet, ekipet e shpëtimit po kërkojnë të vdekur dhe të plagosur në rrënoja. Ministri i Mbrojtjes, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer po viziton ndërkohë Rhein-in e Veriut si dhe Westfalen sot.
